ACTION PICTURS TAKEN BY ANDREAS

These are some of the photographs that Andreas took one afternoon when the boys went to one of the waterfalls in the area, it was lucky that their mothers were not watching, they had so much fun !
Andreas was very pleased with the resulting pictures by the time he got home he had taken 250 pictures, thank goodness for digital camera's because i can't imagine how many thousands of pictues he has taken on this trip. Just incase whoever maybe reading this blog this is a family that we have been traveling with for the last 6 weeks.

THE ONE THAT DIDN'T GET AWAY!

Andreas has spent hours fishing recently but not having much luck but we stayed in a spot at the beach called Balgal, here he caught 6 crabs but it happened over a few hours plus many trips back and forth to the river bank.

He has been out again today fishing but no luck, all the crabs that he has been catching are females and they have to be put back, this crab in the picture he was very proud of.

THE TABLELANDS

This is the view on the way down from the tablelands down to Cairns and the beach at Port Douglas. This is a lovely part of Australia.

SUNSET IN QUEENSALND.

This just in case you have forgetten the lovely sunsets that you get when the weather is warmer.

And yes whoever is reading this blog the summer is coming, we have started to head south slowly because we don't want to up in northern queensland when the cyclone seasons starts.

THE RAIN FOREST

This is the rain forest at Cape Tribulation, can you see me hiding in the bush. This was a forest walk in the caravan park that we stayed, we also took the new car for a trek up to Cooktown. It took us 2.5 hours to do the 105k drive, it was a great day out, we went with the family that we are traveling with so we had some back up if we needed a help through some of the creeks but we managed without any help.

It would be nice to see this area in the rainy season but I don't think I would like the heat and the humidity.

CURTAIN FIG TREE

We have reached the Atherton Tablelands and its a very pretty spot, very green and lush.

It makes a big change from the dusty outback.

We really like this area although it is not as hot , we have arrived at a place called Mereeba,

only 62 k from Cairns, but we are getting power, showers and water for only $15 a night, i think we will be going to Cairns from here as a day trips as it cost up to $46 a night closer to Cairns. By the way we have bought ourselves a car to tow along a little 4x4 , it will make such a difference to us.

We are travelling with a lovely family from New Zealand and we have been going out with them in their car. They are great company and we have lots of fun with them.

This picture is of a curtain fig tree which is a very strange it grows on a host tree and what you can see is the root system and eventually the host tree dies.

A LITTLE STORY ABOUT A CROC

Thought this was an interesting story about the capture of this massive croc.

Thank goodness we have not come across anything this big, but when you are fishing by the river and with murky water you do wonder what is under the surface, you stand well back from the edge.
