THE GREEK FESTIVAL IN MELBOURNE

Well we should have left Melbourne last weekend after the house sit but we found out Melbourne was having a greek Festival. They shut Londsdale street and had entertainment for kids, a couple of stages for the singers, plenty of food stalls and of there may have been a bar or two. We went in on the Saturday night, we would describe the festival as ok, the greek Festival in Townsville was better would we stay next time the answer would be no. We met a nice couple who where visiting from Greece and had a few drinks with them, we then went to a Cretian restaurant with Katie ( George's x) and had a nice meal.

SHRINE OF REMEMBERANCE

Went for a walk the other day heading for the Botanical gardens, we never made it.
We came across the Shrine of Rememberance, we have been to Melbourne many times and have never seen this place before.
It was very interesting, they have a visitor centre then you go into the memorial shrine, they have a plaque in the middle od the floor and the sunlight comes through the roof and passes over the word love.
The way it has been designed that this happens on the 11min, 11 hour on the 11th month, they have a demonstration of this is simulated by an electric light. It was quite moving.
If you go to Melbourne you should go to this place, its worth the it.

CHINESE NEW YEAR. THE YEAR OF THE HORSE

South Melbourne markets on the weekend on the Chinese New Year celebrations.
Two lions were going through the market stalls they choose a stall and enter it, it is suppose to bring good luck and prosperity, then the lion throws cabbage leaves into the stall as it is leaving.

Fireworks over the Yarra river on Sat 1st feb,
they had lots of food stalls, performers, chinese lions and crowds of people near the Crown Casino.
The fireworks went on for about 15 mins, Andreas is not bothered about fireworks but I do enjoy them

The Year of the Horse, this was inside the Crown Casino.
We went into the casino for a drink but as you can imagine the place was packed, people everywhere.
We have been in Melbourne now for a fourth time in the last few months and we have only been in the casino for a drink, no gambling at all.
